Dental implants

Replacing a missing tooth so it looks and feels like your own. Straumann implants, lifetime guarantee, free consultation — in fluent English.

The procedure

A minor procedure under local anaesthesia in which an implant is placed in the site of the removed tooth. Whenever possible, the implant is placed in the same appointment as the extraction — a separate waiting period is usually unnecessary.

The benefits

An implant-supported tooth replaces a missing tooth so that it looks and feels like your own. Properly cared for, implant teeth are effectively permanent — and the implants themselves carry a lifetime guarantee.

Frequently asked

Questions

A dental implant is a titanium or ceramic 'screw' placed in the bone, on which an individually crafted tooth is built.
Treatment is usually close to painless. More extensive gum or bone grafting can involve some discomfort, for which adequate pain medication is prescribed — and the surgical technique is always chosen to be as gentle as possible.
Healing usually takes a few days; sport is not recommended for a couple of days after surgery. The implant is fully osseointegrated at 8–12 weeks, at which point the final tooth can be made.
Implants can be placed for almost anyone in sufficient general health. Your health status, illnesses and medications are always reviewed carefully in advance.
Properly cared for, implants are effectively permanent. The material is highly durable titanium or zirconia, and the tooth itself is usually made of hard ceramic.
The preferred option is to place the implant in the same procedure as the extraction — techniques and materials have advanced to the point where waiting for the bone to heal is usually unnecessary. If the tooth has already been removed, the implant can be placed at 6–8 weeks.
Anything from a single tooth to a full arch. Implants can stabilise existing dentures — or eliminate removable dentures entirely, restoring quality of life with fixed teeth that function essentially like your own.
Single-implant treatment starts from €2,200–2,400. If bone or soft tissue needs to be built, this adds to the cost. Larger treatment plans are always reviewed with you before starting, and the estimate is given in writing.
In my view, yes — which is why I use only Straumann implants. They give the best possible structure with predictable osseointegration, and spare parts remain available far into the future. Of roughly 600 implant brands worldwide, I chose Straumann for exactly these reasons: decades on the market and thorough research behind them.
